Morphocell Technologies

Morphocell Technologies is a preclinical regenerative medicine company developing stem cell-derived tissue and organ replacement therapies. Initially focused on the most severe forms of liver disease, Morphocell has built a fully integrated platform centered on allogeneic, immune-shielded engineered tissues derived from iPSCs. Based in the Greater Montreal Area with growing operations in Toronto, Boston/Cambridge and Rome, the company is anchored by its mission to save lives and is laser-focused on translating breakthrough science into therapeutic products that can reach large numbers of patients at sustainable cost, deliver robust clinical benefit, and generate meaningful long-term value to support continued innovation. Our lead product, ReLiver®, is an off-the-shelf, fully mature engineered liver tissue designed to replace liver function in patients with acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure. By providing immediate detoxification, metabolic support and accelerated liver regeneration, without immunosuppression, ReLiver aims to offer a transformative alternative to liver transplantation for the most acute patients. With the completion of a US$50M Series A financing supported by a global syndicate including Genson Capital, CDP Venture Capital and Investissement Québec, Morphocell is advancing ReLiver® through IND/CTA-enabling studies toward first-in-human clinical trial. The company’s vertically integrated technology and manufacturing capabilities, including scalable stirred-tank bioreactor processes and encapsulation technologies, enable a broad pipeline of future organ replacement applications. Founded and led by clinicians and scientists who are global experts in liver disease, transplantation, stem cell biology and cell therapy development, Morphocell is emerging as a leader in next-generation organ replacement therapies, addressing major unmet medical needs in liver disease and beyond.
