UC Davis Health UC Davis Health is an academic health system and Level 1 trauma center serving Northern California, with a research enterprise spanning basic science, translational medicine, and clinical care. The Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Center at UC Davis Health operates as an end-to-end platform for advancing cell and gene therapies from discovery through early clinical development. This ecosystem is supported by the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the MIND Institute, and the Center for Surgical Bioengineering.
The CGT Center is embedded within one of the most comprehensive translational research ecosystems in the United States. Preclinical capabilities include small and large animal models, a dedicated Stem Cell Core, and direct access to the California National Primate Research Center; one of the nation's leading NHP research facilities. These resources are supported by multidisciplinary translational teams with expertise across immunology, hematology, oncology, neurology, and gene editing, providing a strong scientific foundation for IND-enabling programs.
GMP manufacturing operations include 6,000 square feet of classified space with six ISO 7/8 cleanroom suites supporting autologous and allogeneic programs across a broad range of modalities: CAR-T and immunotherapies, gene-modified cell therapies, stem cell therapies, primary cell therapies, extracellular vesicles, viral vectors, and lipid nanoparticles. Manufacturing is fully integrated with clinical trial execution, regulatory support, and CMC development. This enables a coordinated progression from process development through IND submission and early-phase clinical trials.
With nearly 15 years of CGT manufacturing experience, the program has enabled more than 40 clinical trials and supported more than 30 IND submissions to the FDA, all with a 100% acceptance rate. UCDH serves as a mission-aligned manufacturing and co-development partner for academic investigators and biotech companies, with particular clinical depth in hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
The CGT Center is an active participant in the regenerative medicine ecosystem, engaging in collaborative research, industry co-development programs, and technology transfer. All with the mission of expanding patient access to advanced therapies. Academic Institution |
